So first the bitch fest....I have felt super busy lately but really haven't been. I spend at least an hour a day in the gym sometimes more. But some days that's the only thing I manage to get done To date since July I have lost 37 pounds. It kinda sucks though because even though the number has gone done I don't see much of a difference.
I have been procrastinating and I need to finish Bo and Rory's costumes today. I can't push it back much more. We have company coming tomorrow too, so today I feel like I have a million things to do in a very limited time. I went to bed last night at 11 which is early for me, so of course I have now been up since 4:30. blah.
And now Religulous. So we went to see Religulous the other night, and it was awesome. In fact I can't remember the last time a movie has made me laugh so hard. Now if your a follower of a major religion you might (will) find it offensive. Bill Maher offers a intellectual comedic look at why/ how other wise smart people follow religion unabashedly. In the movie he says something like "Faith is believing without thinking" or something really close to that. I have felt for a long time the only thing that I can have faith in is myself. I know that I (for the most part) won't let me down. I have little use for beliefs that allow for a God that permits suffering, and is an apathetic witness to the world. I do how ever believe in miracles, but I would say I believe in miracles of the human spirit, no matter how the world is going their are always people that overcome adversity and inspire. So any whoo go see the movie, it will make you laugh and think. Also I love Bill Maher and if you have HBO you should watch his show Real Time.

Why I love and always have loved Ralph Nader
Ralph Nader is a champion, a hero, a consumer advocate. He has saved millions of lives, and has always made the people of America a top priority. I have voted for Ralph in every election since I turned 18. In the 96 election I even wrote him in. I have volunteered for his campaign twice, I have read most of his books, watched documentaries about him and would stalk him if I could.
I adore him, and today I was lucky enough to watch him speak (this was the second time I have seen him). I agree with him on many issues, the need for a third party, the federal reserve, corporate ownership of Washington D.C., the war, and energy plans. Today what really resonated with me is when he talked about the difference between freedom and civic freedom. Wouldn't it be great if Civics classes actually offered rewards for civic activity. I have always felt that teaching my kids about politics and volunteerism is very important.
Whenever I hear Nader speak, or read his books, and articles, I feel optimistic, rejuvenated, ready to tackle the problems of two party politics. I wish more people could and would hear his message. The mass media along with the Democratic and Republican parties have tried to make a joke of Ralph and all of third party politics. I was trying to explain to Bo how people choose the lesser of two evils. I explained it as you have two choices you can either be yelled at, or get spanked, but you have to choose and you can't choose anything else. What do you choose? He seemed to understand the lesson and I hope he gets why having a third and fourth option would be so much better.
Also Ralph signed my book for me. Which is awesome!! It was an honor to even be in the same room as someone of his magnitude.
And finally my friend Patia would really like to have his love child. So Mr. Nader please check out her blog for contact info. Oh and thank you for coming to Missoula

The Econmic Crisis and Me
I wish I could say I'm surprised that the economy is in the tank, but I'm not. I am surprised that it took so long for politicians and the media to notice. It takes rich people and corporations losing money for it to be news worthy.
Over the last year or two regular people, people that live pay check to paycheck have known that their dollar was shrinking. I have watched my grocery bill double, my utility bill almost triple, and increases in other basic needs. Even with two substantial raises in the last year we are still just scooting by.
The disparity between the rich and the poor and lower middle class has become painfully evident. I wonder why companies that are irresponsible are more worthy of bailout than people who are irresponsible?
For many people (those with poor credit, no credit) it will be impossible to get a home loan, loans for schools, car loans, and many types of health and life insurance. This inevitably lead to an increase in the number of poor, and a decrease in home ownership and college enrollment.
The financial crisis is going to impact everyone, and has been impacting some of us for quite awhile. Bailing out the giant corporations is not the solution to the crisis and in the long run will cause more damage.
